August 17, 2010

This day was one that was spent on the ship. We did lots of exciting things including rock climbing, hanging out by the pool, reading, and taking pictures.

Rock Climbing: We decided to give it a try. As I was waiting in line I met a woman who was on the cruise with her daughter who was 19. The mother told me that she was breaking out. She just finalized a divorce with her husband, who was a pastor, who had an affair on her with the babysitter. They were married for over 20 years. She told me that after cutting ties with her ex-husband she feels so light and free. She told me that she was going to get to the very top of the wall...and she was not a small woman. I wanted her to succeed. When it was her turn...as did as she was hoping. She made it to the top, it was difficult, it was hard, she had to take many breaks, but she made it. Isn't that so much like life...difficult, hard, wanting to take a break, but in the end it will be worth making it to the top. My rock climbing experience wasn't as good as hers. I had fake nails and it made it so difficult, I could not make it to the top. Tom did though! Good job to him!

Hanging out by the pool: We also hung out by the pool...watched a belly flop contest, a sexiest leg contest, and just were able to talk. The pool was so crowded that there was no way to actually play and swim. I was suprised to find out that the pool contained salt water...it makes perfect sense but for some reason I thought it was freshwater. Mr H. and I didn't stay in the pool area very long...we were burnt from the day before. We figured that being in the shade would be the best place for us, so we went to get out books we brought.

Reading: Mr H. and I found a quiet area on the ship to read. We read for a good while. We saw birds flying around and thought it was kind of weird because we were in the middle of the ocean, there was no land in sight. We wondered where the birds came from? It was so quiet and relaxing just sitting there that I fell asleep for a little bit.

Taking pictures: Mr H. and I went on a scavenger hunt trying to find things that could spell our last name. Such as a circlular window could be the letter "O". So anyway, we had, I had a lot of fun. Here are some other pictures we took of the Sunset

Because it's not worth the fight

After KK's bath, this is how he wanted to put on his underwear and because it's not worth the fight that's how they will remain.

As a parent I've learned to choose my battles

Isn't he so precious? He wanted to sleep in our bed tonight because he missed us. I love this boy

Warning: Grossness!

Why do you say, do I have all of my cleaning supplies in the kitchen sink? Well, that is a good question, but before I go into it...let me give you some background information. I HATE cleaning dishes. Growing up, my family never owned a dishwasher. My mom said she never needed one because she had six...that is six kids to wash the dishes. When the dishes were my chore...I never did them. I would just stand there and stare outside the window. My mom would always ask me what is going to happen when I get older and I need to wash my own dishes...I told her I would buy paper plates or marry someone who loves to wash the dishes. Well folks, I don't have to buy paper plates....I did find a husband who LOVES doing the dishes! No, I am not kidding...he says it helps get his hands feeling softer. So back to the story of why the cleaning supplies are in the sink.

Last night I was going to do a little bit of the dishes because they were piling up but I started moving the dishes around to find the sponge. I caught a wiff of something and gagged, now I havent gagged because of a smell since I was pregnant with KK. I told myself that they could wait until tomorrow and I'll make G do them when he comes home. But morning came and there were NO MORE bowls or spoons or anything to make breakfast. So I started doing some of the dishes (luckily we have a dishwasher) slowly the sink started to clear. I ran the disposal and cleaned the sink then when I grabbed the dish detergent it looked like the sink threw up.
All of the chunks of disposal was everywhere...on the cleaning supplies, on the walls, and on the bottom of the sink. I was so disgusted...it stunk, it was gross, and I was mad. I hate dealing with old, nasty, grossness and this was the mother of all grossness. It made our whole house smell. I couldn't even make lunch...we went to McDonald's. The rancid water was leaking all over the kitchen floor.
Cleaning it made me gag...I can't even think about it.

Before the house was bought there was an inspection of the sink and it did not pass. $900 later the problem was supposed to be fixed and OBVIOUSLY it wasn't. The plumber will be here to check it out in the morning. Until then, we've had to wash the dishes in the bathtub. I can't wait to have my kitchen sink back and you can guarantee I will no longer be doing the dishes

Isms of KK

KK is a very funny and a very witty little boy. He comes up with the most creative things to say to make anyone laugh. These are some of the recent ones:

Around Christmas we were driving home from my parents house and somehow we got onto the topic of me being pregnant with KK and this is the conversation that followed:

Me: KK, do you remember being in Mom's tummy!?
KK: Yeah
Me: What did you think about it?
KK: Ummm...I was thinking (long pause) I WANNA MOVE OUT! (jerking from side to side and kicking his hands and feet).

This happened Friday morning:

Me: You want some cinnamon toast?
KK: Yeah, with no crust! Do you know why I don't like crust?
Me: Why don't you like the crust?
KK: Because that's the way Jesus made me and you have to love me the way Jesus made me

Friday afternoon:

We were coming out of the post office and KK was following quite a ways behind me

KK: Mom! Where are you? I'm blind...I can't see you. I need my contacts. (moving his hands in front of him like he really was blind)

KK cracks me up...he is such a funny little guy. I love him very much and I cannot imagine my life without him.

Out with the old & in with the new

My camera broke about a month ago. I'm not sure how it happened, someone may have stepped on it or I could have dropped it just right. But the screen doesn't display the picture that is taken. It can still take pictures, but I don't know what they look like. I was sad because I that was my first digital camera that I bought when C was 3 months old. It's lasted me a while...I wish it lasted me longer. So it's out with the old and in with the new.

Mr H bought me a new digital camera today...I wasn't expecting it. We have been very tight financially, but he told me he recieved a good paycheck this week. So we bought a new camera and I love it. Thank you Mr H for the new camera...it's really going to come in handy. BTW, did you see the 'boo-boo' on my finger!? I had just thrown away a can and the garbage was full so I tried to compact the garbage with my hands and the jagged metal lid from the can cut my finger. It hurt so bad...I thought of a few choice words, but kept my cool while the kids were watching me. My mom would be proud!
